Dark Souls: The Roleplaying Game; Unkindled Heroes - Packs 1 and 2

This week, we feature two sets of miniatures from Dark Souls: The Roleplaying Game (https://steamforged.com/collections/dark-souls-the-roleplaying-game).  While I am not an active Dark Souls gamer, these miniatures caught my eye at my local hobby shop, and I figured I'd paint them up!  For the DnD-affiliated crowd, Dark Souls looks like a wonderful option to add into the gaming night mix.   The miniatures are 28mm real-scale, similar to D&D miniatures from Wizards of the Coast.

"Pack 1" features four "unkindled" heroes - a Knight, a Herald, an Assassin and a Warrior.  I decided to adopt a blue color scheme for this batch.  I envisioned them working together as a warband under a single Lord's heraldry and banner.  I followed an initial basecoat of Citadel paints with a dark wash from D&D's prismatic paint series.  All surfaces were drybrushed with various Citadel "dry" paints and inked with Citadel contrast paints.  I re-drybrushed them with the same "dry" tones, and re-applied lighter and complementary layers of contrast paints.  The miniatures were sealed with a Matte Varnish spray from Army Painter.  Bases feature some good 'ol Kentucky dirt, painted and washed with "Mud Wash" from Army Painter, and a unique blend of static grasses from MiniGrounds on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/MiniGrounds?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=900878543&from_page=listing)

"Pack 2" features six "unkindled" heroes - a pyromancer, a cleric, a thief, a sorcerer, a mercenary and a beggar-looking fellow known as a "deprived."  A bit scrappier-looking, I conceived of these folks operating in two separate groups out in some barren wilderness, and painted accordingly.  For the thief, deprived, cleric and mercenary, I adopted a distinctly desert-themed look, which I think went well with the Middle-East-inspired headgear on the Mercenary.  In order to achieve a more weathered-looking appearance, I conducted two full drybrush/contrast inking cycles for all parts of the miniatures.  I decided to link the sorcerer and pyromancer with a distinct color - in this case, an ethereal blue-ish purple.  One can imagine these two magically gifted travellers adopting common cause and seeking out adventures.

I will be making both sets available for sale on my Ebay page soon - they will arrive within their original packaging, ready for unboxing and gaming!  Keep an eye out, they should go live by the end of the day.
